Our story!
Whippoorwill Quilts is owned and operated by a twin sister team — Bailye and Brynne. The business was started in Missouri in 2018, was based in 2 different states - Arkansas & Maryland, BUT NOW both twins and their families are in the same state again…. Whippoorwill Quilts is officially in Arkansas!
B&B were taken to auctions and estate sales at a young age and loved seeing all the treasures! Going to estate sales & auctions as kids was a family fun event, that still continues today.
Bailye & her family live in Arkansas. They have 3 young kids, Kinza, Karson & Kayt! They enjoy getting outside and enjoying their states nature trails & family recreation areas. On the weekends they head to flea markets & sales all across the state, Oklahoma & Missouri.
Brynne & her family lived in Maryland, but recently joined Bailye and her family in the great state of Arkansas. They also have 3 young kids, Joey, Finnley, and Louie. They enjoy exploring their new state & Brynne still has lots of quilt connections in Maryland and the east coast!
Together, the duo saves vintage & antique quilts! This small quilt shop gives them the opportunity to work together daily - something each of them is very thankful for. They can both be stay-at-home-moms to care for their young kiddos but run a small business at the same time. They take pride in the fact that they delicately clean each quilt before photographing & listing these gorgeous pieces of history.
Have fun shopping for your favorite quilt and viewing each of these unique, handmade works of art! We hope you love and enjoy looking at them as much as we do! - B&B
Our Process.
First, we find quilts all over the country. Living in 2 states, on different ends of the country, helps with this task. Then we save the quilts! We delicately wash and air dry each quilt. Our rule of thumb is we would not list a quilt that we would not put in our own home. After the quilts are dry, we measure & photograph each one - which we call “processing”. If a quilt is old enough or too delicate to wash - that is clearly stated in the listing. We also take extensive notes about the details of each quilt. This is the most important step so that each customer feels comfortable purchasing a quilt that is vintage or antique and listed online. The next step is to list each quilt for you all to browse, purchase and enjoy!
We hope you will pick one (or multiple) quilts from our shop to add to your collection.
